Eldevin Alpha Test 1

Last week everyone in Hunted Cow played the latest build of Eldevin. This was the largest test of the game to date, and it handled the number of players without any glitches. In fact, the game only crashed once when someone used a new spell that was not supposed to be active at the time of the test.

We did find lots of little bugs which we are busy fixing as I write this. Like the stall owner who catches you stealing from him and runs after you, hacking at you with his sword, shouting, “Good morning, sir!”. Or the massive orange spider that just sits there and lets you attack it. That will be more aggressive in the release build.

This was also one of the first times the dungeons have been played through by people who have not coded them, and there was some interesting comments about health of the bosses and some of their attack strengths. It was here that the skills of the players were stretched to their fullest and some of them are going to be buffed so that they work as we intended.

We have some polishing to do with the game but that was to be expected; fix the floating rocks and make sure the all quest markers actually change when you complete them. But we are in good shape for the closed beta that we are hoping to run in three months from now!
